Your hands have natural oils (and who knows what else) on them that can affect the flavor, so give them a wash before starting, preferably without soap, as it tends to leave a residual taste, too. Another common collection technique utilizes several silk screen bags(bubble bags) and ice water to separate the trichomes from the cannabis plant matter and filter them through the screens. This yields a solvent-less bubble hash, full melt, or ice wax.
